Tra Tell Abyad ed Aleppo scorre l’Eufrate. Su uno sperone fu costruito Qal’at (fortezza, in arabo) Najm. Questa e’ la vista che si gode da li’ sopra:

Il custode, nonche’ guida, della fortezza si chiama Jassim. Dopo avermi offerto un bicchiere d’acqua e qualche boccata di shisha (narghile’) mi ha accompagnato all’interno:
